NC House Rep. Graig Meyer Statement Applauding Governor Cooper’s Growing Rural Economies with Access to Technology (GREAT) Grant Announcement

GREAT grant awarded to Open Broadband, LLC, for project in Caswell County

Last week, Governor Cooper, the NC Department of Information Technology and its Broadband Infrastructure Office announced that 19 rural counties in North Carolina would be receiving better internet access thanks to nearly $10 million in grants from the Growing Rural Economies with Access to Technology (GREAT) program. In Caswell County, Open Broadband, LLC, was the recipient of over $1.5 million to fund a project that would serve over 2,500 households. Rep. Graig Meyer released the following statement in response:

“Addressing rural broadband needs is the single biggest thing we can do for the long-term economic development of rural North Carolina, and has been a top priority of mine in the Legislature. I thank the Governor for his work to improve access to reliable, high-speed internet for people in every pocket of our state, especially Caswell County. This improved service will provide invaluable opportunities for businesses to grow, students to learn, and communities to connect.”
